Sunday in... Schloss Hof

While August Break was a lot of fun, it did turn out to be rather stressfull for me this year. Daily blogging is not really relaxing for me. I much more prefere the storytelling style of blogging, I love my Sunday In ... series, which fell by the wayside in August, and to just tell about life as it happens. So today let me start telling you about a photo excursion I took one sunday in August. I took so many photos, it will give me a chance to fill future Sundays where maybe nothing exiting happened.

Schloss Hof is about an hours drive away from Vienna, next to the border to Slovakia by Bratislava. We started out at 6:00 am in the morning (ugh..) to take advantage of the wonderfull light. The first photo I took of one of the outbuildings I have already shared during August break:
There was still a little bit of fog to be seen on the water.
The sun was just rising, coloring the sky
and giving a clear crisp light where is did not yet touch,
but coloring everything rosy, where it shined.

Walking through the different gardens we exited towards the fields, where the zoo Sch├Ânbrunn keeps some animals, we again encountered the  mist rising from the fields and the soft late summer morning light.
But just some minutes later, with the Sun fully up
the light turned hard and crisp, almost too strong.
We were given the opportunity to walk through the roof area and were even shown some old wood, which is part of the original building material. Prinz Eugen had Schloss Hof built around 1720, so these tree trunks are more than 300 years old.
One of the skylights gave a wonderfull view over the garden of Schloss Hof.
I leave you with a final view back from the garden towards the castle, a photo I took when I walked back on my own, after the excursion had ended. And next time: maybe some photos I took of the gardens, enchanted in the early morning light, glittering with dew.
